Emily's birthday invite

I know I haven't posted in a long time, and what I'm going to post isn't a card, but it's the next best thing. (ok, better!) My little girl is going to be 1 next month, and I just spent about an hour on Shutterfly making the most adorable birthday invites! I couldn't *not* share the cuteness!!

Since I've last posted, I have.... graduated school, had a baby (#2), landed a job in my field, and bought a house! Phew! I almost have all my craft stuff unpacked, and am hoping to get back into the swing of things real soon! I have a few great ideas for cards and other projects that I can't wait to get out of my head and onto paper. :)  And I gotta get involved in Papertrey's Make It Monday series cuz there's soooooo many new things I gotta try!

Happy crafting! :)

A little of this, a little of that...

I tried to post this yesterday, but my internet connection at work was really bad and it was taking forever to load, so I had to wait until today..

I had a bunch of projects that I did within the last few months.. and everything had turned out WAY better than I imagined! My brother had a baby boy the beginning of February, and I made him and his wife a baby album.

This was the album I choose. I found it at Pat Catan's. (which is my favorite place to shop-- even tho there's a Michael's about 5 mins from my house! lol) I wanted to reproduce the bubbles on the front, so I used the single dots from Polka Dot Basics with Spring Rain and Aqua Mist. I did a random pattern on every page, using Aqua Mist for the small and large filled dots, and Spring Rain for the small and large outline dots.

I picked up some paper at Pat Catan's that was similar to Spring Rain, but was on sale for 20/$1 and a bit thinner, so I was able to cut a few sheets at a time. I used Spring Moss as a second border to the similar-to-but-not-Spring-Rain-paper. I die-cutted the tags using the Sizzix tag die, and the Nestie's Label One dies for the embellishments.

This is a close up of the embellishments I used throughout the album. The matte and ink were done with Aqua Mist. I used a variety of baby sayings from both Bity Baby Blessings and Inside and Out: Baby. I was originally going to mix in some images from Baby Button Bits, but found that using even a few buttons would cause the book to expand by double-- so I choose to stick with just the sayings.

This was the first two pages of a 4-page spread. I couldn't make a baby album without highlighting some of the most important moments in a baby's life. The other 2 pages had: first curl, haircut, word, and steps.

This is my favorite page! It was the last 2-page spread in the book (leaving the last page blank for my sister-in-law to add in whatever she liked.) I thought this was a good idea since it's mostly just the first year of a baby's life that really gets documented, and just the birthdays of the other years (not counting special events/outings.) And when he starts school, I'm going to make a school-year album for them, which will take them until high school graduation. (yeah, I kinda plan ahead sometimes lol)

Next, is a card that definitely takes the #1 spot as the best card I've made to date.. I loved it so much that I made a mother's day card almost exactly like it!

On this card, I used both sizes from Delightful Dahlia along with 3 different shades of pink- Sweet Blush, Hibiscus Burst, and Raspberry Fizz.

This is a close-up of the corner, where you can see I used Background Basics: Text Styles in Sweet Blush on white underneith the small flower and leaf from Delightful Dahlia in Hibiscus Burst and Spring Moss. The sentiment (from the same set) is in Hibiscus as well.

This next project is something I did for my mom for her birthday. I found this jar at a local dollar store and thought it'd be perfect for hair supplies! And of course after decorating it, I filled it up with bobbypins, barrettes, ponytail holders, a couple headwraps, and some clips.

Here's a close-up of the lid.

I got to use my new PTI goodies on this one! I *love* Lisa Johnson's new set Just For You and the Mat Stack 2 die. Since there was really nothing in the set for hair stuff, I used the flower from the set in the middle and for a background pattern.

I hope everyone has a great weekend... and thanks for taking the time to look! :)

Papertrey Peeps Challenges #2, 3, & 4

Wow, I can't believe it's been 3 months since I last updated! That's definitely *way* too long, and hopefully it won't happen again. :) Since I have a lot to post, this is gonna be the first of two posts-- one with devoted just to Papertrey Peeps challenges, and the second for my other projects. Here's challenges 2-4... (and #4 is my favorite!)

Papertrey Peeps Challenge #2

The challenge was to choose a package (from http://papertreypeeps17.blogspot.com/2010/02/challenge-2-inspired-by-packaging.html">here)and use those colors in a card. For this I used Lemon Tart (which didn't show up very well in the pics, sorry), Dark Chocolate, and Summer Sunrise. I love http://papertreyink.com/stamps_fillableframes2.html">Heather Nichols' Fillable Frames, and found myself referring back to this card design for a few other cards that I had to make.

Papertrey Peeps Challenge #3

The challenge (http://papertreypeeps17.blogspot.com/2010/03/papertrey-peeps-challenge-3.html">here)was to use Orange Zest. Now, I'll admit that this card doesn't make my top 10 on cards. I think it might've turned out better if I simply stamped the smaller flowers, instead of die-cutting them.

Papertrey Peeps Challenge #4

Challenge #4 was to CASE one of Nichole's cards. I choose this one..

And here is the card I made...

I used RV14 to make the border-- I wasn't concerned about keeping it straight or even and I really liked how it turned out. I love the color combo too- Hibiscus Burst, Sweet Blush, and Smokey Shadow. This easily became one of my favorite cards.. and the first I made in a 5x5 size too.

Thanks for looking!

Nicole :)

Papertrey Peeps Challenge #1 and a card..

Sorry, I haven't updated in a while but I've been having some major computer problems. The power cord to my laptop decided to stop working correctly so it won't keep my computer charged for long. I've been trying to find a new one, but haven't had any luck. If anyone knows where I can get one, please let me know. It's been hard not being able to get online like I'm use to. (And of course this decided to happen during PTI's Sneak Peeks!)

Here's the card I made for the Papertrey Peep's first challenge.. which was anything with buttons!

Since I've got limited power, I'm gonna come back when I'm able to have more time and edit this post with the supplies I've used.

The next card is one I made for my sister. Since this was the first time in a few years she was going out for her birthday, I decided to give it a "drinking" theme. :)

Hopefully, I'll be able to get a new cord quickly and update more often. Thanks for looking! :)

Two more..

This is my favorite one so far. (and everyone loves it too!) I used Flower Soft for the stocking, to give it that realistic look and feel! (and as much as I used, I hardly put a dent in the jar-- I love this stuff!) Since I wanted the main focus to be the middle stocking, I used Versamark for the other two for a watermark-type image.

This is the inside of the card. I was originally just going to stamp the sentiment in Sweet Blush, but when I tried on a scrap piece, it didn't seem to show up as well as I wanted, so I decided to use the Labels One die in Sweet Blush instead. But that just seemed too plain to me when I went to attach it, so i decided to use Versamark again with the stockings for a background behind the sentiment. --I masked the top part of the card, and only stamped on the bottom half.

This is the card I made for my boss. Wednesday was his 5th anniversary of owning the bar and we thought it'd be funny to give him a sympathy card! This one turned out *way* better than I had in mind. I saw this technique used many times before but had never tried it myself- I stamped Text Styles in Versamark, then Giga Guidelines in Fresh Snow ontop- for a two-layered background.

This is upclose of the background and the glitter strip. I placed a strip of Scor-Tape in between two score lines I made, then sprinkled with glitter. My friend, Tricia, told me how to do this.. and I absoutely love it!

Hopefully I can get some more cards done with week before finals next week! Hope you enjoyed! =)

It's Christmas-card making time!

This is one of my favorite parts of the holiday season.. getting to make really cute Christmas cards! And for all my non-crafty friends: yes- I know Halloween is Saturday and no- it's not too early to be making Christmas cards. (espically when there's a lot to make!!) I only have two to share today, and hope to have some more done by next week.

I was having a hard time trying to come up with color combinations, when my little light bulb inside went off.. "no color!" I decided to create a Christmas card using only black and white. And this was the result. I used PTI's Stamper's Select White cardstock and True Black ink. Flag is from Sign Language, the snow hills from Holiday Button Bits, and the snowflakes are from Snowflake Serenade. I also put a small rhinestone in the center of each snowflake.

This is my favorite one so far. For this card, I used PTI's Dark Chocolate and Vintage Cream cardstock; Pure Poppy, Ripe Avocado and Dark Chocolate ink; and images from Peaceful Poinsettia, Vintage Labels, and Signature Christmas. I also used a corner rounder for the bottom edges of the cream paper and added a small rhinestone in the middle of the poinsettia.

This week, I need to get the goodie bags for my son's bday party done. (I decided to make them using Lauren's Pack A Picnic template.) So hopefully, I'll get some pics of them up here when they're finished.

Thanks
Nicole

Non-holiday cards

I haven't updated this in a while, and for that I'm sorry.. but it's been real busy here between school, work, JD, and loosing a car (yeah, two working parents--one car!) I've decided to make two seperate posts, one of christmas/holiday cards and the other with the few non-holiday cards I recently made.

This first one I made really quickly. I used PTI's Pure Poppy cardstock, Fresh Snow ink, With Sympathy stamp set, and the sentiment came from Holiday Button Bits. It's not one of my favorites, but its nice enough and was really simple.

I went looking through the PTI gallery one day and came across a baby shower card that I just absoultly loved! And of course, I just had to CASE it.. found here I decided to change it up slightly tho. For the supplies, I used PTI's Berry Sorbet and Stamper's Select White cardstock, Berry Sorbet swiss dot ribbon, and the stamp sets used were: Polka Dot Basics, Scattered Showers, and Bity Baby Blessings.

This one is my favorite outta the bunch. This is a birthday invitation for my son's 3rd birthday party, which we're having on Halloween. (It's the Saturday before his bday- nov 2) I used PTI's True Black, Orange Zest, and Stamper's Select White cardstock; True Black ink; Boo To You stamp set, and the sentiment is from Scattered Showers Additions--which I curved on the clear block.

Hopefully, I'll be able to get my second post up tonight-- it has a few Christmas cards that I can't wait to share with everyone.

Thanks :)
Nicole
